Change of guard at Nimbus, UTV
Mumbai: Television content and media companies Nimbus Communications and UTV are both seeing a major change of guard as they reorganise their respective business plans and focus. While Nimbus will see Akash Khurana take over as MD and CEO from Harish Thawani, UTV has appointed Ronald D’Mello and Sandeep Bhargava to head newly-merged departments. Akash Khurana, who has been with Nimbus for the past five years, headed the motion pictures and music departments as COO. In the restructuring, the previous Nimbus CEO Harish Thawani has distanced himself from the company’s domestic operations and will now focus on corporate strategy and international business. The bulk of the company’s Rs 150-crore business is from television content production and media marketing and air-time sales. However, in the recent past, the sale of cricket properties and movies has begun to contribute to the company’s topline growth, Khurana said.
