Kalamankar
at SBH helm
Hyderabad: State Bank of Hyderabad, one of the
associate banks of State Bank of India, has announced
that A.G. Kalmankar has assumed charge as its new managing
director on Friday. In a press release here, the bank
said Kalmankar joined SBI as probationary officer in 1968
and served the bank in various capacities as deputy general
manager, general manager, as vice-president at the Flushing
Branch of New York. Apart from having worked as the chief
general manager of SBI in the North East Circle, he also
served the State Bank Staff College, Hyderabad, as its
chief general manager and principal.

SABMiller
restructures operations into 3 regions
Bangalore: SABMiller has restructured its domestic
operations following the management takeover of Shaw Wallace
Breweries Ltd. The multinational has divided the market
into three regions - South, West and North - under separate
operational directors.
r Dave Kvalsvig will head the Southern operations, which
will cover the biggest beer consuming States of Andhra
Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. T.J. Venkateswaran
will manage the Western region, consisting of Mumbai and
Maharashtra as the main markets. Vinod Giri, who heads
national marketing, will temporarily take charge of the
Northern markets till a replacement is effected.

Coal
India files caveat
Kolkata: Pre-empting that N.K. Sharma, the suspended
chairman of Coal India Ltd (CIL), may take legal steps
to challenge his suspension order, the management of CIL
has filed a caveat in court to ensure that no ex-parte
order is given by any court in the country, it is learnt
from authoritative sources. As directed by the bosses
in the union ministry of coal and mines, Sharma's nameplate
on the door of his office chamber at 10, Netaji Subhas
Road is being removed. The nameplate of the acting chairman,
Lakshmi Chand, is being put up in its place. Chand is
arriving in the city today (Saturday) to attend the meeting
of chairmen and managing directors of all CIL's subsidiaries.
