4th RBI deputy may be Nabard ex-officio chief
New Delhi: The Centre is mulling over the idea of appointing the proposed fourth deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as the ex-officio chairman of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard), Union minister of state for finance Anandrao Adsul said.There is a new proposal that the new deputy governor will also be the chairman of Nabard and will control the co-op sector as a whole. It is to control the co-operative sector, including the urban banks. That he can do by being the chairman of Nabard, which is the supervisory body of co-operatives, the minister said. In insurance, motor vehicle insurance is the controversial area, where only PSU insurers are providing service and private insurers are keeping away from it. The Centre is planning to fix a quota for these companies to bring them on par with public sector insurance companies (PSICs) in offering these services, Adsul said
