Maruti
board inducts four
New Delhi: Maruti Udyog (MUL) has inducted Kumarmangalam
Birla, chairman, AV Birla Group, as an independent director
on its board. Also inducted as independent directors into
the new-look board, which now has a larger number of Indian
nominees, are Pallavi Shroff, lawyer and senior partner,
Amarchand and Mangaldas and Suresh A Shroff and Co, and
Amal Ganguli, former chairman, PricewaterhouseCoopers
India. In addition, the former managing director of Maruti
Udyog, R C Bhargava, had also joined the board as part-time
director. The appointment of the new members was approved
by the MUL board during its meeting here on Monday which
was attended, among others, by the chairman and CEO of
Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan, O Suzuki. The board
also accepted the resignations of H Nagao and M Atsumi
as directors. With the recast, the MUL board now has 11
members. Nakanishi and Jagdish Khattar continue to be
the chairman and managing director of the company, respectively.
Sugimori and Takeushi are the joint managing directors.
