Gautam
Thapar joins Bata board
Gautam Thapar, vice-chairman and managing director of
Ballarpur Industries Ltd (Bilt), has been invited to join
the board of the Canada-based Bata International, which
the runs Bata's worldwide shoe business.
Mr
Thapar will be travelling to Toronto later this month
to attend his first meeting of the Bata International
board.
Earlier,
Tarun Das, director general of the Confederation of Indian
Industry (CII), was appointed on the 12-member International
Advisory Board of the Atlanta-based The Coca-Cola Company.

Saregama
reorganises music business
Kolkata: Saregama India Ltd (SIL), RPG group company,
has reorganization its music business in order to promote
further growth.
Under
this reorganisation, while the company's managing director,
Mr Abhik Mitra, will function as the strategic business
unit head for the music business, other divisions have
been created whose heads would report to Mr Mitra.
Mr
Raj Grover, who was earlier with another group company
- - MusicWorld, will now be head of operations and international
business. Mr Kulmeet Makkar will act as head of new Hindi
film acquisitions and regional marketing, taking over
from Mr Harish Dayani, who was earlier heading domestic
music business.
Mr Dayani will now be the chief executive of the film
business.
Mr
Atul Churamani, will be in charge of looking for new artistes,
a new business into which Saregama entered recently.
Mr Biman Mitra will look after manufacturing. All these
HoDs would report directly to the MD,
Saregama
also aims at growth in two new areas to emerge
as a TV content hub and as a producer of quality Indian
films.
The company has already set up a wholly-owned subsidiary,
Saregama Films, to lead its foray into film-making and
also look after its software business. The TV software
business has now bought a large stake in Min Bimbangal
Productions, a Rs 10-crore TV content provider for south
Indian channels.
