Ambit
gets Lazard top brass to join as partners
Mumbai: Investment bankers Ashish Guha, Amit Mukherjee
and Sanjay Sakhuja, who quit from Lazard India a month
ago are joining Ambit Corporate Finance as partners from
August 1. They will form part of a new 'Vision 2005' strategy
team at the six-year-old boutique investment bank.
Ashok
Wadhwa, founder & MD, Ambit Corporate Finance said,
"We are reasonably optimistic about the country's
economic climate and our timing (in hiring the three investment
bankers) could not have been better. Ambit has existing
client relationships that need to be better exploited,
which is what the three new partners will do. Moreover,
they are bringing on board their own relationships,"
he said.
Mr
Guha was the chief at Lazard India, running the operations
from August '02 onwards after chairman Udayan Bose moved
to London while Mr Mukherjee, a managing director at Lazard
India, led the healthcare, FMCG, media and technology
practices.
Mr Sakhuja was responsible for the banking and financial
services and the FMCG industry practices of the firm.
