to go for major exploration
New Delhi: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation
(ONGC) yesterday announced the launch of `Sagar Samriddhi',
a campaign to discover oil and gas below the ocean beds
of the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
"Acknowledged
worldwide as the single largest campaign to discover oil
and gas, it involves an investment of around $2.6 million
per day over the next few years," the ONGC Chairman
and Managing Director, Mr Subir Raha, told newspersons

Interactive enters play school business
Mumbai: Zee Interactive Learning Systems Ltd (ZILS),
entered into the pre-primary education segment with Kidzee,
a play group, nursery and activity centre.
Kidzee will cater to children in the age group 2-4 years
and children from the age of 2 years upwards. The centre's
curriculum will emphasise all-round development - cognitive,
physical, social and sensorial - and the material will
also be culture-specific, said Mr Arun Kumar Khetan, CEO,
ZILS.

case: SAT for amicable settlement
Bangalore: AN out-of-court settlement between Mr
Kishore Chhabria and Mr Vijay Mallya, Chairman of UB group,
in their battle for control over Herbertsons is expected
following Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) order directing
Kishore Chabria to make an open offer for 20 per cent
stake in the company.

Lafarge
India in favour of Pvt Placements
Mumbai: Lafarge is open to the idea of diluting
stake in its Indian subsidiary through a private placement.
The company will, however, resort to this on a fund need
basis, in case of an acquisition or a major expansion.
Lafarge is open to both domestic and international investors,
senior company officials said.
Lafarge
holds 70 per cent in Lafarge India, while 23 per cent
is held by State of Winsconsin Investment Board, and 5.6
per cent by HDFC.
