India for phased removal of agri subsidies

New Delhi: India has said that developing countries will press for phased elimination of farm subsidies that hinder market access. Commerce and Industry Minister Arun Jaitley has said that India does not expect significant progress in non-agricultural market access negotiations at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) ministerial meeting in Cancun in light of the proposal made by the US, Canada and the European Union. "The proposal is loaded against the interest of developing countries."
