Hutchison expands services in Karnataka
Bangalore: Hutchinson Essar, the fourth cellular operator in Karnataka, today said it had expanded services in the State to 58 new towns and had deployed 214 new cell sites.

Its Managing Director, Mr Asim Ghosh, told newspersons here that with this expansion, a total of 62 cities and towns would be covered. "We have spent a total of Rs 500 crore in Karnataka alone and Rs 1,100 crore in south India," Mr Ghosh said.

Bajaj Hind acquires Monnet Sugar plant
New Delhi: Bajaj Hindustan Ltd has acquired the 5,000-tcd plant of Monnet Sugar Ltd at Unn (Muzaffarnagar district) in Uttar Pradesh.

The deal, said to be for a consideration of Rs 57 crore, would enhance the Shishir Bajaj-Kushagra Bajaj promoted company's aggregate cane crushing capacity to 22,000 tonnes per day.

BPCL bids for Tata Petrodyne
Mumbai: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd today told the stock exchanges that it has submitted a financial bid for buying the oil and gas exploration company Tata Petrodyne.

Tata Petrodyne is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power. The power company had acquired Petrodyne in December 2000 for Rs 145 crore.
