Mumbai: The Supreme Court judgment in the disinvestment
of HPCL and BPCL has cast its shadow on the Government's
privatisation programme but it is unlikely to affect the
sale of Shipping Corporation of India, which was incorporated
under the Companies Act, Government officials said.

Info to appoint Sprint as CDMA advisor
Kolkata: Reliance Infocomm is close to appointing
the $27-bn Sprint as technology consultant to advise and
assist it in the deployment of CDMA digital wireless services
across India.
Sprint
is the world's fastest growing wireless carrier, operating
the largest all-digital CDMA network in US. Though Sprint's
initial involvement with Infocomm will purely be in the
capacity of a consultant at the operational level, indications
are that this business relationship may broaden in the
coming months.

in talks with Holcim
Mumbai: Gujarat
Ambuja Cements Ltd (GACL) has initiated discussions with
Swiss cement major Holcim, which could eventually result
in the latter ending up with a substantial stake in ACC.
A
top team from GACL, led by finance director Anil Singhvi,
was recently abroad to negotiate with Holcim. The discussions
are believed to be in advanced stages.

board of Shaw Wallace's joint venture with SABMiller.

Kiran Chhabria, the youngest among the three daughters
of the Chhabria estate, who has had no prior exposure
to Jumbo's businesses in the country, and Ms Komal Chhabria
Wazir, an executive director of Shaw Wallace & Co,
are among the nominees to the board.

gets top corporate governance, value creation rating
Mumbai: Infosys Technologies has been assigned
the highest GVC (governance and value creation) rating
of `CRISIL GVC Level 1' by Crisil.
The GVC rating indicated that the firm's capability with
respect to creating wealth for all its stakeholders while
adopting sound corporate governance practices was the
highest, said a news release from the rating agency.
