Sensex
sheds 101 points on overbought futures position
Mumbai: Benchmark stock indices fell sharply on
Thursday on widespread selling by investors who were said
to be paring overstretched positions.
The 30-share Sensitive Index of the Bombay Stock Exchange
(BSE) fell 101.20 points or 2.39 per cent, the steepest
fall since August 25 when the twin bomb blasts in Mumbai
pulled it down 120 points.

Asahi
share allotment panel to meet on Sept 24
New Delhi: A meeting of the share allotment committee
of the board of directors of Asahi Safety Glass Ltd is
to be convened on September 24.
The
board will also decide on the issue and allotment of equity
and preference shares of the company to the shareholders
of erstwhile Floatglass India Ltd.

Mukand Ltd has decided to issue 0.01 per cent cumulative
redeemable preference shares aggregating Rs 5.63 crore
in lieu of the cancellation of 20 per cent equity capital.

Cement approves rights issue
Chennai: The board of Chettinad Cement Corporation
Ltd has approved a rights issue proposal for a value not
exceeding Rs 40 crore. It has appointed a three-member
committee to decide on the size and timing of the issue,
and also to get regulatory clearances.

Cummins Info peaks
Mumbai: The stock of KPIT Cummins Infosystems surged
ahead on Thursday hitting a 52-week high of Rs 247.80
and Rs 248 on the BSE and NSE respectively.
The
stock has appreciated by almost 36 per cent from its levels
of Rs 170-171, as on August 19, 2003.

Warburg
pares Satyam exposure
Hyderabad: While the news in the exchanges and
the market is about FIIs (foreign institutional investors)
upping their exposure in the domestic market, Warburg
Pincus, a venture capital and equity fund, has brought
down its share from 5.33 per cent to 2.68 per cent of
total equity in Satyam Computer Services Ltd.
