Phaneesh denies second sexual harassment charge

Bangalore: Phaneesh Murthy, a former Infosys Technologies director and head of its worldwide marketing, has come out strongly against the sexual harassment lawsuit filed by Jennifer Griffith, a former employee at Infosys' US office. In response to a statement by Infosys on learning that the second case had been filed at the Superior Court of California, Alameda County, the former director said: "I am appalled and outraged by the baseless allegations. This is complete rubbish. However, I am determined to fight this case. Else, I will be vulnerable for anyone to take a potshot."

During a conference call from his residence at Fremont, California, Murthy said money was the only motive behind the filing of the suit by Griffith and her lawyers, who had earlier represented Reka Maximovitch. In May 2003, Infosys had announced a $3-million out of court settlement with the 30-year-old Maximovitch, a US citizen of Bulgarian origin, who had also filed a sexual harassment suit against Murthy.
