Open
skies agreement not to affect A-I, IA, says govt
New Delhi: The Indian government has said that
it has protected the interest of the domestic national
carriers, Air-India and Indian Airlines, while signing
the open skies agreement with ASEAN. The two carriers
will be able to launch flights to South-east Asian destinations
on a reciprocal basis.
A
civil aviation ministry official was quoted as saying:
"The existing terms of the agreements including codeshare/block
space arrangement with the Indian carriers will be honoured."
This means, all the existing agreements with Air-India
will be considered while allowing the Southeast Asian
carriers to launch additional operations into Indian cities.
