Entrepreneur of the Year award: 25 in the fray
New Delhi: Twenty-five of India's top business
leaders have been selected as finalists for the forthcoming
Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. Now
in its fifth year in India, the award will be announced
on 29 October at a celebration banquet here. A seven-member
jury, comprising eminent personalities and chaired by
N R Narayana Murthy, chairman and chief mentor, Infosys
Technologies, has selected the finalists from more than
130 nominations received this year.
The
25 finalists for 2003 are Aditya Puri of HDFC Bank; Ajay
G Piramal of Nicholas Piramal; Ashwin Dani of Asian Paints;
Atul Punj of Punj Lloyd; B N Kalyani of Bharat Forge;
Dr Devi Prasad Shetty of Narayana Hrudayalaya; Jagdish
Khattar of Maruti Udyog; K G Ramachandran of BHEL; Narendra
K Patni of Patni Computers; O P Lohia of Indo Rama Synthetics;
Onkar S Kanwar of Apollo Tyres; Pawan Jain of Safe Express;
Prithipal Singh of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd; Radhika &
Prannoy Roy of New Delhi Television; Raghav Bahl of TV

with Narayana Murthy, who chaired the panel of judges
for 2003, others on the jury include A K Purwar, chairman,

Group; Dr Onkar Goswami, chief economist, Confederation
of Indian industry; Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman and
