Lloyds
moves jobs to India, Barclays may follow
London: Lloyds TSB Group Plc said on Thursday it
would shut a call centre and move jobs to India as rival
UK bank Barclays Plc also said it might transfer British
jobs there to cut costs.

behind Finland, India ahead of China in competetiveness
Washington: The latest Global Competitiveness Report
by the World Economic Forum has sprung a surprise. It
sees Finland racing ahead of the United States as the
world's most competitive economy, with Sweden and Denmark
tying up third and fourth spots on the annual listing,
the World Economic Forum said in a report on Thursday.
India
slipped a little in the growth competitiveness index rankings
as it occupied the 56th in growth competitiveness index
rankings compared to 54th in 2002. In the business competitiveness
index rankings, however India continued in the same position,
37th, as the year before

to up India presence through indirect team
Bangalore: Computer Associates International,
the $3.1-billion infrastructure solutions vendor, is re-working
its strategy in India. The company, which has thus far
relied on a small 20-person direct marketing force, is
now looking to set up an indirect team of around 200 people.
Apart from targeting end-to-end deals from large organisations,
the company is also moving into the volume segment by
focusing on smaller companies that have a Rs 5 to Rs 10
lakh budget.
