Compact cars drive Maruti Q2 net higher
New Delhi: Maruti Udyog Ltd yesterday announced that its net profit during the second quarter of this fiscal surged to Rs 124 crore on a turnover of Rs 2,277 crore as sales of its compact cars continued to grow.

VSNL net profit down by 73per cent
Mumbai: Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd has reported a 73 per cent drop in net profit, at Rs 48.7 crore, for the quarter ended September 30, 2003, from the restated net profit of Rs 185.8 crore reported for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

MRPL net loss trimmed
New Delhi: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd has recorded a net loss of Rs 45 crore on a gross turnover of Rs 2,788 crore for the second quarter ended September 30. For the corresponding period last year, the company recorded a net loss of Rs 84 crore on a turnover of Rs 1,976 crore. This translates into a 41 per cent rise in net profits and decrease in losses to the tune of 46 per cent for the period under review.
