Cabinet okays single licence Telecom
New Delhi: The unified licensing regime as recommended by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India got its final stamp of approval from the Union Cabinet today, even as a decision to hiking the foreign investment limit to 74 per cent has been left to the Finance Minister, Mr Jaswant Singh.

Kolkata to have two more IT parks soon
Kolkata: Having set a revenue target of $15 billion by 2010 from the IT sector, the West Bengal Government will be adding two more IT parks in Kolkata. It has already signed a memorandum of understanding with SESMA (Singapore Development Authority) for the implementation of the IT park at New Town near the Kolkata Airport. The IT park will come up on an area of 100 acres of which the Singapore company will help in developing the facility on 50 acres. The work on this project is expected to start in January, said Mr Manabendra Mukherjee, Bengal Minister for Information Technology and Environment.

Pesticides: Agriculture Ministry Wants Stringent Norms
Bangalore: In the wake of current controversy over the presence of pesticide residues in bottled drinking water, carbonated soft drinks and other food products, the agriculture ministry has decided to strengthen the process of registration of pesticides on strictly scientific basis.
