IDL blast leaves 7 workers dead
Hyderabad: A powerful blast at IDL Ltd, a part of the Gulf Oil Corporation, killed seven workers and wrecked damage on some of the plant facilities in Kukatpally area on Tuesday. The blast occurred around 4 p.m. in the detonator fuse shop, where about 15 employees were said to be on shift duty. The explosion ripped through the sheds and fuse shop, causing heavy loss to life and property. The cause of the mishap is being investigated, according to police.

Eight others injured were rushed to the Nizam's Institute of medical Sciences in serious condition. The impact of the explosion was so large that the building housing the corporate office located at a distance suffered minor damages to the glass structures. Meanwhile, the management, which has been silent on the issue, has declared the facilities closed on Wednesday. The Andhra Pradesh chief minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, and the home minister, Devender Goud, rushed to the site of the blast. The chief minister announced a judicial enquiry into the incident and an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh each to the kin of the dead.
