India
turns Vegoil exporter after four decades
Mumbai: India, the world's largest buyer of vegetable
oils, finally turned exporter last week after a gap of
four decades. India had last exported vegetable oil in
1964. Since then the country's rising demand for vegetable
oils has been met by rising imports, which last year had
touched five million the highest in decades.

Fair
& Lovely to enter Asian and African markets
Mumbai: Fair & Lovely, a power brand of Hindustan
Lever Ltd, (HLL) is present in about 20 countries worldwide
through Unilever. Arun Adhikari, executive director-personal
products, HLL, expressed the company's intention of entering
more countries across Asia and Africa by exporting from
India.

Qantas
to launch low priced carrier
Sydney: Australia's
national carrier Qantas said today that it will launch
a new cut-price domestic carrier called Jetstar in May
2004 and has ordered 23 Airbus A320 planes for the airline.

trade up 13 per cent
New Delhi: Bilateral trade between India and Germany
is expected to go up by 13 per cent during the current
year (January-December) at Rs 26,000 crore over last year's
Rs 23,000 crore.
