Wal-Mart loses Jaganath; rival Target benefits

Mumbai: B Jaganath, who is the head of Wal-Mart in India, will join Target Corporation as head of its Indian operations. Jaganath, who is expected to join Target on 15 December, will have the mandate to expand Target's sourcing base.

The move comes at a time when both global majors have been working on plans to step up sourcing from India. "Jaganath has been associated with Wal-Mart for a long time. Target will now capitalise on his vast experience in sourcing goods," a Mumbai-based supplier to global retail majors was quoted as saying.

NHAI still looks for a fulltime CVO
New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which handles highway projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore, is working without a chief vigilance officer (CVO) in place. This, despite the claims of the government that transparency is maintained in the award of contracts and all complaints are looked into by the vigilance wing.

Indian Police Service official Praveen Singh, who was acting as CVO for three years, had relinquished the charge in July. NHAI's member (finance) Anand Bordia is handling the additional charge of CVO since then.
