audit'proposed for better compliance of laws
New Delhi: The Institute of Company Secretaries
of India has mooted the concept of `Securities Audit,'
given the need for a mechanism to ensure better compliance
of statutory provisions relating to securities by a company.

Small
Enterprises Development Bill to be introduced in Budget
Session
New Delhi: The
government will introduce the Small Enterprises Development
Bill, 2002, in Parliament in the Budget session. It was
also working on a package to revive small scale industry
units in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Orissa,
said SSI minister CP Thakur.

Bill
seeks centre's regulatory regime over state gas distribution
network
New Delhi: The Union government has decided to
bring state gas distribution network under the Centre's
regulatory regime. Gas distribution has been included
under the scope of regulation of the amended "Petroleum
and Regulatory Board Bill".
