Corporation Bank announces IT scholarships
Mangalore: Corporation Bank has decided to extend the last date for receipt of applications for IT scholarships from January 31 to March 31. According to a bank release, the bank took the decision to extend the last date owing to requests from the public in this regard.

Corporation Bank launched IT scholarships for meritorious students in December. Application forms are available at all Corporation Bank branches.

SEBI stops HSBC offer for 20% stake in UTI Bank
Mumbai: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has stopped HSBC's open offer to buy 20 per cent equity share capital of UTI Bank Ltd from the public. In a notice to the BSE, SBI Capital Markets Ltd, manager to the HSBC offer, said that the SEBI had directed the acquirer not to proceed with the open offer for which it had filed a draft document with the regulator.

HSBC Asia Pacific Holdings, UK and Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd Hong Kong had made an offer to UTI Bank shareholders to buy 4.6 crore shares of the bank at Rs 90 per share of face value Rs 10. HSBC had acquired 14.7 per cent stake in UTI Bank last month from private equity firm, CDC Capital Partners, for a little over Rs 300 crore.
