BHEL wins order for hydel project
New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) as won an order for setting up will hydel power project of 7-MW capacity in Chhattisgarh on a turnkey basis.

Valued at nearly Rs 30 crore, the contract for the Sikasar hydel project , has been placed on BHEL by the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board .

KSE bags productivity award
Kochi: KSE Ltd has bagged the National Productivity Award for the best animal feed processing unit for the year 2002.

The award was presented by the National Productivity Council. This is the sixth consecutive time KSE is winning this prestigious award. KSE had secured the first prize from 1996 to 99 and the second prize in 2000 and 2001.

Sujana Metal to purchase Padmini assets
Hyderabad: Sujana Metal Products Ltd is set to purchase the assets of its group company - Padmini Corporation Ltd, the Chennai-based entity engaged in the manufacture of steel rerolled products.

Presently, Sujana holds 41.15 per cent equity stake in Padmini Corporation, which has a capacity of 1,40,000 tonnes per annum.

Apollo Hospitals in pact with Hygeia Nigeria
New Delhi: The Apollo Hospitals group has entered into a partnership with Hygeia Nigeria Ltd, a healthcare group based in Lagos.

Apollo Hospitals would assist the group to upgrade the facilities, improve clinical and administrative processes, train doctors in super speciality disciplines and provide telemedicine support.

EMC to increase R&D team
New Delhi: EMC Corporation has announced that it would double its research and development team in the country later this year. At present close to 100 employees work in its R&D centre.

The company had in November last year stated that it proposed to make $100 million worth of investments in the country during a five-year time frame.

Motorola bags $307-m illion telecom orders
New Delhi: Motorala's Global Telecom Solutions Sector has announced that it has won orders of wireless equipment agreements worth over $307 million from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd and Tata Teleservices Ltd.

These agreements include deployment of new networks, as well as expansion and upgrades of existing networks for both Global System for Mobile Communications ( and Code Division Multiple Access systems.

STMicro to invest $100 m in India
New Delhi: STMicro electronics said it plans to invest $100 million in India over the next five years and double its headcount to 3,000 in the next two years.

A major part of the investment will go into setting up of a new development centre at Greater Noida near Delhi.

Tata Motor's ratings unchanged: S&P
London: Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said yesterday that Tata Motors Ltd's acquisition of Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Co (DWCV) for $102 million does not in itself have an impact on Tata Motor's credit rating or outlook.

This acquisition will be equally financed by equity injection from Tata Motors, which currently has adequate cash resourcesand by new debt issuance by DWCV.

Wipro launches SuperGenius desktops
Bangalore: With the launch of a new SuperGenius range of desktops, Wipro Infotech has become the first OEM in India to market desktops based on the latest Intel Pentium 4 processor with hyper-threading (HT) on high-volume 90-nanometer manufacturing technology. According to Intel the processors built on the 90-nm process retain the multi-tasking capabilities of HT technology, and include new features such as enhanced Intel NetBurst micro architecture, a larger, 1 MB Level 2 (L2) cache and 13 new instructions. Wipro Infotech, is a division of the $902 million Wipro Limited.
