Operations hit at Chennai Container Terminal
Chennai: A "go slow'' agitation by non-management staff, including crane operators, has affected loading and unloading of boxes at Chennai Container Terminal, in the last 48 hours. The agitation has led to congestion inside and outside the terminal. The CCTL workers are demanding a nearly three-fold increase in salary. As a result of the ongoing agitation the Chennai Custom House Agents Association has requested its members not to send export containers to CCTL for the next two days for shipment to avoid congestion.

This is the first time an agitation has affected container movement at the CCTL after the terminal's privatisation in November 2001.
