NeST: First offshore development initiative from the gulf
Kochi: NeST and MINDSCAPE have signed an agreement to set up an offshore development centre at the NeST premises in Kochi. This will be the first offshore development initiative of its kind in the Gulf region, a press release has said. The agreement envisages setting up a dedicated offshore development centre to support the aggressive growth strategy of MINDSCAPE, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mashreq Bank. The MINDSCAPE offshore development centre will come into being in Kochi on March 1, 2004.

Worm Warning
Hyderabad: Symantec, an Internet security solutions provider, has put out information with regard to four new threats from W32.Netsky.C@mm, W32.Netsky.B@mm, W32.Mydoom.F@mm and W32.Welchia.D.Worm.
Discovered on February 24, W32.Netsky.C@mm is categorised as a level 3 threat on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the most serious. W32.Netsky.C is a mass-mailing worm that uses its own engine to send itself to the email addresses it finds when scanning hard drives and mapped drives.

McAfee offers Entercept
Mumbai: Network Associates Inc, a player in intrusion prevention solutions, has announced the development of McAfee(R) Entercept(R) Desktop edition for Microsoft Windows 2003 and Windows XP. McAfee Entercept Desktop offers enterprise-class desktop security which defends critical business assets from malicious attacks such as buffer overflows and worms, and also offers added security protection for complex threats through extended server environment and platform support. This announcement was made at the RSA 2004 Conference in San Francisco.

The McAfee Entercept Desktop edition for Microsoft Windows 2003 and Windows XP is currently available for beta review and will be generally available through Network Associates channel partners and its direct sales force towards the end of March.
