India gets Admiral Gorshkov: On its way for refit
Moscow: Russia on Tuesday has formally handed over the aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov to the Indian navy for a subsequent refit at a naval dock yard in North Russia. At a ceremony in the White Sea port city of Severodvinsk, the Indian Ambassador Krishnan Raghunath, received the 44000-tonne ship on behalf of India. As per the contractual agreement, after repairs and refit, the SevMash naval shipbuilders have to deliver Admiral Gorshkov to the Indian Navy within 52 months of the handover.

Pakistan tests Shaheen-II
Islamabad: Pakistan today test-fired a 2,000 km-range surface-to-surface ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. The Foreign Office spokesman, Masood Khan, had announced earlier that neighbouring countries, including India, had been notified about the test as per the convention.

EU: Transparency in anti-dumping measures
New Delhi: The EU member-countries have endorsed a European Commission proposal which postulate that definitive anti-dumping or countervailing measures would be considered adopted unless a simple majority of EU member-states opposes the move. The EU would also introduce mandatory deadlines to complete review investigations and clearer rules on enforcing trade defence measures. This responds to calls from importers and exporters from third world countries for greater predictability.
