Galileo India offers e-ticketing services
New Delhi: Galileo India, a global distribution service provider for the travel industry, has announced the successful deployment of e-ticketing services on its `computerised reservation system' across 12 international airlines, including American Airlines, Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines. Galileo India launched e-ticketing services to its network of Galileo connected travel agents in August last year.

Cummins signs MoU with Westport
Pune: Power solutions provider Cummins India Ltd (CIL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Cummins Westport Inc (CWI) which will enable the former to manufacture B-series engines in India. As per the understanding CWI will licence its lean burn spark ignition technology and supply gas-specific components for the B Gas International engine, which will be manufactured in India at Daman by 2005.

The new engine will cater to the growing market for natural gas vehicles in India and also allow the company to export 25 per cent of its production to export markets other than US and China, he said. Cummins has been a major player in the natural gas vehicles market in India and the new venture will provide it with the opportunity to extend its product portfolio to cater to the growing demand for higher horse power and performance requirements of the transit bus markets in India.

Avon Organics allots warrants at Rs 43
Hyderabad: The allotment committee of the board of directors of Avon Organics Ltd (AOL), a city-based pharmaceutical company, at its meeting on Wednesday has allotted 4.8 lakh convertible warrants to its promoters and a Director.The company informed the stock exchanges that the warrants were issued for Rs 43 each, convertible into one fully paid equity share each.

Michelin nominees onboard Apollo Tyres
New Delhi: Two Michelin nominees have been inducted into the board of Rs 2,027 crore Apollo Tyres Ltd (ATL). The two nominees of Michelin on the ATL board are Jean Marc Francois, President, Michelin-Asia Pacific and Herve Richert, Vice-President, Business Development, Michelin-Asia Pacific.
With the Michelin preferential allotment deal now fully complete Michelin has picked up a 14.9 per cent stake in ATL on a preferential allotment basis for a consideration of about Rs 135 crore (at Rs 235.65 per share).

3 companies win CII awards
Chennai: CII's awards for safety, health and environment have been presented to the Hosur unit of Ashok Leyland, to Brakes India's foundry at Sholingur, near Chennai, and to TVS Srichakra.
The awards were presented by Dr M.S. Swaminathan, Chairman of Dr M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation. The awards were given in recognition of the companies' innovative practices in safety, health and environment measures.

Coke sets up rainwater harvesting projects
Thiruvananthapuram: Coca-Cola has commissioned six rainwater-harvesting projects in the Palakkad district of Kerala. According to the company the six projects have a potential to recharge approximately five lakh litres of water on a daily basis. Set up over 40 acres of land, the projects have been implemented on the premises of the local Government LP School and five separate farmlands in the Nellimudu area of Chittoor taluk. The projects will help augment groundwater supply to the local communities.

Honda hopes to wipe out losses this fiscal
New Delhi: Honda Siel Cars India has said that at the beginning of 2003-04, Honda Siel had accumulated losses of Rs 75 crore, which would be wiped off this year. The company is expecting a profit before tax of Rs 90 crore this fiscal, which will be utilized to get rid of the accumulated losses. According to the company it expects to sell 22,000 cars this fiscal as compared to 13,300 units sold in the last fiscal. Meanwhile, Honda is facing a capacity constraint and has a backlog of 3,000 orders for the Honda City at present.

Bandwidth Allocation: FLAG refutes allegations
New Delhi: In a letter written to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), FLAG has refuted allegations of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) and global carriers — AT&T, Sprint and MCI WorldCom — that it has failed to fulfil its commitments regarding bandwidth allocation in order to favour Reliance Infocomm Ltd. FLAG Telecom Ltd, is a subsidiary of the Reliance group.

FLAG has noted that there is enough bandwidth capacity available with it and the company seeks to dispel any apprehension on availability of capacity. The company has also provided TRAI with details of the capacity that can be made available on the FLAG system of undersea cable network.

Euclid opens new development center
Hyderabad: Euclid Inc, an IT management software solutions provider, has commissioned a new development center in Hyderabad and plans to double its headcount in Research and Development (R&D) work here.

CBay sets up mega center
Hyderabad: CBaySystems Ltd of the US has decided to upgrade some of its 37 centres in India to `mega centre' status and deliver "client-ready" medical transcription packs.While the first of the mega centers has been set up at Hyderabad the other mega centers are expected to come up at Bangalore, Chennai, New Delhi and Ahmedabad by May next year. In the next two and half years, the company expects its Indian arm to have a headcount of 10,000 and cross the $100-million mark from the present $35 million. CBaySystems, a leading provider of healthcare business process outsourcing services, outsourced 95 per cent of its projects to its Indian centres.

Usha lines up 42 for the summer
Hyderabad: Usha International has lined up an array of 42 products in different categories of home appliances for summer sales. It is targeting both the rural and urban markets. The company has introduced a low-cost fan for the rural market. The line up includes a gas-based geyser. Usha, which registered a turnover of Rs 400 crore in 2002-03, is looking at Rs 450 crore for the current fiscal.
