Kinetic Nova travels to Europe
New Delhi: Kinetic Motor Company has drawn up plans
to enter the European markets with its four-stroke scooter,
Kinetic Nova. According to the company, the Nova has successfully
completed all homologation requirements for European countries
and the first few containers will be dispatched to Turkey,
Sweden, Czech Republic, Greece and the UK by the end of
this month. The Kinetic group has already exported over
150,000 vehicles to markets all over the world.

Baxter
India slashes dialysis fluid prices
New Delhi: Baxter India (Pvt) Ltd has announced
a 12 per cent cut in the price of its `Peritoneal Dialysis'
fluids used in the treatment of kidney related ailments.
The prices of the 2-litre twin bag system have been dropped
to Rs 145 per bag from Rs 165 per bag. Baxter India is
a wholly owned subsidiary of Baxter Healthcare International
Inc, US.

Amtek
Auto to acquire GWK group for £5 m
New Delhi: The auto components company, Amtek Auto
Ltd, will acquire 85 per cent equity stake of GWK Group
Ltd. by investing £5 million (approximately Rs 41
crore) in its equity, subject to the approval of the Reserve
Bank of India. The GWK Group, which had a turnover exceeding
Rs 900 crore during the previous financial year, will
outsource its forging requirements from Amtek. This will
result in substantial export earnings for Amtek. GWK manufactures
engine components and drive trains among other products,
and is an OEM supplier to auto majors such as Ford and
General Motors.

Plasson ties up with PAFPL for drip irrigation
New Delhi: Plastro Plasson Industries (India) Ltd
(PPIIL), a Finolex group joint venture with Israel's Plastro
Plasson, has entered into a five-year tie-up with Punjab
Agriculture Food Parks Ltd (PAFPL) to supply irrigation
systems, green houses and shade nets exclusively to PAFPL's
registered farmers in Punjab for an initial period of
five years. PAFPL is a subsidiary of Punjab Agro Corporation
and is engaged in supplying agricultural inputs and farm
machineries to its members. According to the company,
its farmer-customers who have to conform to certain output
standards under their contract farming deals do not mind
buying high-end drip irrigation systems.

Maruti
800 still driving the company higher
Pune: The country's largest carmaker Maruti Udyog
Ltd (MUL) said here that its best-selling entry-level
model, the Maruti 800, will continue to be its volume
driver. According to the company the model accounted for
almost 14,000 units of its total monthly sales of 40,000
cars. The company, which grew this year at the rate of
30 per cent as against the industry average of 27 per
cent, expects sales to touch the 4.2 lakh unit mark. It
also expects its turnover to cross the Rs 10,000-crore
mark this year.The company has also announced that it
is firming up plans to further strengthen its dealer network
across the country by having 280 dealerships in place
by the end of March.

TRAI reluctant to step into VSNL-FLAG
row
Mumbai: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India
has given Videsh Sanchar Nigam-FLAG-Reliance Infocomm
a week's time to settle their dispute, failing which it
may choose to intervene. But the authority has stated
that it understands that there would be more landing stations
and international bandwidth coming into the market over
the next few months, and hence is wary of issuing an order
to resolve a situation that can last only a few months.The
dispute relates to a complaint from Reliance Infocomm
made to TRAI that VSNL was denying it access to FLAG bandwidth.
VSNL currently owns the landing station of FLAG.

ruling a boost for call centres
New Delhi: The National Association of Software
and Services Companies (Nasscom) has hailed the Department
of Telecommunications' (DoT) latest regulation that permits
the use of common infrastructure for domestic as well
as international call centres, apart from easing some
procedural bottlenecks for the domestic call centres.
Nasscom said that usage of common infrastructure would
also help reduce attrition levels in the industry as the
agents could be shifted between day and night shifts.
