Hindi interface for Windows XP launched

Delhi: Microsoft Corporation India Ltd has announced
that a Hindi language interface will now be available
for the Windows XP operating system. This is part of the
company's efforts to localise its products. It had earlier
launched the Hindi version of Microsoft Office.Existing
Microsoft XP users can download the language interface
pack at no additional cost, a company release said here.

VSNL
acquires Dishnet's Internet buisness
Mumbai: Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd has signed an
agreement with DishnetDSL to acquire the Internet businesses
of the Sterling Infotech group company for Rs 270 crore.
The acquisition would give VSNL access to the base of
over 600 owned and franchised cybercafes of Dishnet. VSNL
currently has 6.5 lakh dial-up ISP customers.
The agreement is for both the narrowband and broadband
businesses of Dishnet DSL, said a news release from VSNL.
The transaction includes all the Internet assets, employees
and customers of Dishnet's ISP division.

Dishnet
launches VoiceSnap
Chennai: DishnetDSL has introduced VoiceSnap, an
application that allows users to send and receive voice
messages over the Internet. VoiceSnap, similar to receiving
and sending e-mails on the Net, will be provided for free
with every new Dishnet dial-up and DSL connection/renewal.

forms Executive Council
Mumbai: LINTAS India's Integrated Marketing Action
Group (IMAG) has formed an Executive Council, comprising
presidents of different units under its fold. The Executive
Council members will be responsible for the overall IMAG
product and delivery, in addition to that of their own
units. Besides the Director - IMAG, Ashish Bhasin, who
is driving the IMAG business at Lintas, the Executive
Council will include Usha Bhandarkar (Creative & Strategic
Planning), Debashis Das (Linterland), Chandradeep Mitra
(Lowe Personal and Lowe Healthcare), Ameer Ismail (LinOpinion
& Advent), Sabyasachi Mishra and Colette Austin (d-Cell).
IMAG comprises Linterland (9,000-strong rural communications
network), Lowe Personal (DM & CRM), Lin Opinion (PR),
Advent (Events), d-Cell (Design), Lintertainment (Entertainment
Marketing), Lowe Healthcare (Healthcare and advertising)
and Aaren Initiative (Outdoor).

Telugu version launched
Hyderabad:

InfoTech, Pune, has launched a new version of Shree-Lipi
with a Telugu version. The language package is useful
in the Desk Top Publishing (DTP) sector, newspapers, corporate
offices and the government. It helps in creating documents
in Indian languages, according to a press release.

Bajaj
Auto: New plants and models for coming fiscal

Bajaj
Auto plans to set up assembly plants in Indonesia and
Brazil soon and launch four two-wheelers before July this
year. The company could rope in a local partner for setting
up its assembly plant. The company plans to use Indonesia
as a hub for exporting to all other Southeast Asian countries,
and similarly Brazil too will act as a hub for the South
American market. In another five years, Bajaj expects
to sell half a million vehicles abroad.
The company plans to launch four more two-wheelers during
the first half of the next fiscal (2004-05). The first
of these, code-named, Super 100, a remodelled Kawasaki
model, will be launched during April. Another bike, code-named,
K-60, will be launched in June. A remodelled Chetak will
be launched in July and an ungeared scooter called Wave
will be launched around the same time. Bajaj Auto has
plants in Pune, which manufactures scooters, Aurangabad,
which manufactures motorcycles and three-wheelers, and
Chakan, which manufactures Pulsar bikes.

TI Diamond Chain
to become a subsidiary

Investments of India Ltd has informed the BSE that the
company intends to acquire 12,83,000 equity shares of
TI Diamond Chain Ltd (TIDC) at Rs 105 per share from Amsted
Industries Inc., the foreign collaborator of TIDC, subject
to necessary approvals. On completion of this acquisition,
the company's holding in TIDC will increase from 49.91
per cent to 70.84 per cent. Consequently, TIDC will become
a subsidiary of the company.

Sugar to pick up 50-lakh shares in Siel Ltd.

Ltd has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) that
the committee of directors has recommended the board to
issue 50,00,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each for cash at
par to Siel Sugar Ltd. This is pursuant to financial projections
given and approved for corporate debt restructuring.
