Alcatel mulls research centre in Bangalore
New Delhi: French telecom firm Alcatel is evaluating the option of setting up a research and development centre in Bangalore for its global requirements. The company is also planning to bring in new software development projects to its two existing centres in India at Delhi and Chennai.

Ogilvy & Mather is 'Agency of the Year'
Mumbai: Ogilvy & Mather was adjudged 'Agency of the Year' at Abby 2004. With a total tally of 33 points, consisting of 22 Abbys (six gold and 16 silver), the 'Campaign of the Year' title and 'Best Continuing Campaign' award (both gold and silver), O&M swept to the top position.

McCann-Erickson India finished second with a haul of 25 points (two gold, four silver). Leo Burnett India (two gold, two silver) and rmg david (six silver Abbys) shared the third spot.Saatchi & Saatchi India, SSC&B and Yahoo! Web Services helped themselves to one gold Abby each. The newly conceptualised Brand India category made its debut at Abby 2004. Grey Worldwide, Concept Communication, UBR Inc, and O&M were the winners in this category.

Contracts for Mercator Lines from ONGC and MRPL
Mumbai: The coastal shipping major Mercator Lines has recently bagged two orders from BG Exploration & Production and the ONGC promoted Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals (MRPL), collectively valued at around Rs325 crore to Rs350 crore.The company has secured a contract from BG Exploration & Production Pvt Ltd for charter hire of a vessel for a period of five years. The vessel will be deployed as a storage tanker on Panna Mukta Oil Fields.

The company has informed the BSE that the total turnover from the contract is estimated to be $ 32 millions spread over a period of five years.Similarly, the company has secured a contract from MRPL for transportation of approximately six million tonne crude oil over a period of 12 months commencing from April 1, 2004 for around Rs 190 crore. The MRPL contract entails transporting crude from Saudi Arabia and Sudan.
