Lacoste
to expand through malls
Pune: French premium apparel brand Lacoste is all
set not only to expand its presence in the market through
the malls coming up across the country, but also by offering
the consumer a larger product portfolio.
The company says that it intends to woo women, who will
now have a larger range to choose from. In keeping with
the international trends in womenswear, the company's
new range of women's Western wear will have apparel solutions
using stretch fabric, contemporary styles and cuts.

Kenstar
unveils new range of Refrigerators
Chennai: Kenstar Kitchen Appliances has launched
a range of refrigerators that have been designed to make
maximum use of space and are priced at a level that would
place them amongst the three least expensive refrigerators
in their respective categories.
Kenstar expects to register a turnover of Rs.225 crore
in the current financial year, which for the company ends
in June. The Videocon group of companies, and their promoters,
own the company's equity.

unveils IBS
Hyderabad: Hi-Teks Business Solutions Private Ltd.
has launched a product entitled Intelligent Business Solutions(IBS).
Hi-Teks is a company promoted by former Test cricketer
Arshad Ayub. The company says that while accounting package
solutions, inventory management and billing and cash register
packages were available in plenty in the market, there
was no comprehensive software package that could handle
the entire spectrum of business management, something
that the IBS was specifically designed for. The product
will be available in two versions, the SOHO (small office
home office) and the extended version for bigger users.
Hi-Teks is the Indian arm of Global Technical Management,
Inc., of the US.

to set up centre of excellence for BizTalk server
Bangalore: Tata Consultancy Services is setting
up a consulting practice and a centre of excellence for
Microsoft's BizTalk server-based enterprise applications
solutions, a Microsoft release said.
Microsoft expects the banking, financial and insurance
services vertical along with manufacturing and telecom
sectors to be the early adopters of its BizTalk server.

BHEL
starts supply of wellheads to ONGC
Madurai: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), has
despatched the first assignment of 25 sets of wellheads
and Christmas trees each at a function held at Tiruchi.It
has to supply 350 sets of wellheads and 390 sets of Christmas
trees every year over the next three years. The order
is worth Rs.160 crore.

Hospital bags ABCI awards
Bangalore: At its 43rd annual awards for 2003 for
excellence in communication, the Association of Business
Communicators of India has conferred two awards to the
Wockhardt Hospital & Heart Institute, a Wockhardt
release has said. This is the first-time any hospital
has won two ABCI awards in the category, it said.
The external magazine category award went to Wockhardt
Heart Institute for its quarterly publication Take Heart
given to heart surgery patients. The second award was
for Wockhardt Hospital's innovation in using digital media
to promote wellness in the community.

Sonalika
and MG Rover to produce SUVs
New Delhi: The Rs 1,000-crore Delhi-based Sonalika
Group has entered into a technical tie-up with the British
automobile major MG Rover to produce SUVs in the country.
Sonalika has also tied up with Powertrain Ltd, which is
a sister concern of Rover under the umbrella of Phoenix
Venture Holdings, to serve as a sourcing base for engine
components.
The Sonalika Group company, International Cars & Motors
Ltd (ICML), is planning to invest Rs.200 crore towards
setting up a facility to manufacture the SUVs and engines
in Himachal Pradesh.
The proposed plant in Himachal Pradesh would have a capacity
of 24,000 units for SUVs and 50,000 units per annum for
engines and would be ready by 2005.

TVS
Motor aims for Rs.3, 000 crore this fiscal
Kolkata: TVS Motor Company Ltd. is hopeful of closing
fiscal 2003-04 with a turnover of Rs 3,000 crore. In 2002-03,
the company clocked a turnover of Rs 2,726 crore.According
to the company, TVS has a 20 per cent share of the motorcycle
market. The company has also unveiled the TVS Fiero FX,
a 150-cc motorcycle in the premium segment.
