BCCI declares Rs.50 lakh bonus for cricket team
Kolkata:
The cricket board has announced a bonus of Rs.50 lakh
for the squad. BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya apart from
congratulating the Indian team members for their superlative
performance, has also lauded the Pakistani government,
the people and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the
way their conduct of the series.

FICCI conference to review legal system
New Delhi: Officials of the Federation of Indian
Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) have said that
economic legislations in the country are currently overregulated
and compliance costs were also high. The officials point
out that there were more than 3,000 statutes out of which
approximately 450 dealt with economic and commercial decision-making,
and that there was a need to prune the existing legal
and judicial systems.
In order to deliberate upon the issues to review the existing
legal and judicial system in the country, FICCI and the
Bar Association of India are organising a national conference
on `Reinventing Indian legal system for achieving double-digit
economic growth'. Senior Government representatives, judges,
legal luminaries, corporate leaders, chartered accountants
and experts from the corporate sector in the area of legal
and secretarial compliances would address the conference
scheduled for April 10.

Sino-Indian
team discusses trade prospects
New Delhi: A two-day meeting of the Sino-Indian
Joint Study Group (JSG) on trade and economic co-operation
in Beijing has discussed the possibility of signing a
FTA and Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement,
according to an official release.Sino-Indian trade touched
$7.6 billion last year.

Reliance
Energy revamps bill for Mumbai customers
Mumbai: Reliance Energy Ltd has revamped the format
of the monthly bill for its 22-lakh Mumbai customers.The
company plans to extend the new pattern of monthly electricity
bills to consumers in Delhi shortly. Initially, the new
bill will be available in three languages and subsequently
it will be made available in any of the 22 main Indian
languages, according to the company. The company says
that the new bill is easy to read and simple to understand.

ECIL
commissions electronic fencing system at HAL
Hyderabad: The Electronics Corporation of India
Ltd (ECIL) has commissioned, what it calls, a `Thinking'
- electric perimeter fencing system, at the Hindustan
Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) facility at Hyderabad. The computer
controlled system can `think and adapt' to different environmental
conditions, ensuring very few false alarms, and in the
case of forced intrusion, will raise an alert through
a sound alarm and give a visual display of the zone.
According to an ECIL release, the system covers a perimeter
of 1.6 km and is one of the first of its kind.

Tea
Board revises 2003 export figures
Kolkata: The Tea Board has revised the total figures
for tea exports from India at 173 million kg (mkg) from
164.9 mkg, during 2003, according to a statement issued
by the Indian Tea Association.In terms of value, tea exports
have dropped by Rs.202.47 crore to Rs.1, 550.92 crore,
compared to 2002.
According to the statement exports to all the significant
markets have dropped, except Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Exports to Russia have dropped to 42.76 mkg from 48.30
mkg. Total exports to the CIS countries dropped by 4.40
mkg to 58.31 mkg.
