HP wins $784 million order for computer services
Princeton:
Hewlett-Packard Co., the world's second-largest computer
maker has won a US contract to manage computer networks
at the Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers.
The contract will be for a ten-year period and will be
worth 784 million.
The
departments' networks manage records at Its 170 medical
centers in the US, Puerto Rico and the Philippines. Hewlett-Packard
will maintain the software and hardware for these networks,
the company has said in a statement.
Computer
services work is boosting sales and profit as hardware
demand slows. The company has already secured a 3 billion
US dollar order last year to run consumer-products maker
Procter & Gamble Co.'s computers.

BHEL
commissions gas turbine unit in Oman
New Delhi: State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricials
(BHEL) has successfully commissioned a 70 MW gas turbine
power unit in Oman, for Petroleum Development Oman, a
joint venture between Oman government, Total and Partex.BHEL
is also due to commission another 70 MW unit at Qarn Alam
near Muscat.
