Intel
invests another $ 39 million in Shanghai
Shanghai: The world's leading chip maker Intel
has announced that it will set up a research and development
centre in Shanghai with an investment of $ 39 million.
The 301,280 square feet facility will supplement Intel's
existing production plant in Shanghai. Intel had said,
earlier last week, that it had begun building a $ 375
million facility in China's south western Sichuan province.

licensing pact for Sun and Microsoft
San Fransisco: Sun Microsystems has said that it
has given Microsoft a 10-year option to license its products
for as much as $450 million. Under the agreement, Sun
will not sue Microsoft for damages as long as Microsoft
renews the deal and makes annual payments, according to
a Sun spokesperson. Sun and Microsoft had issued a statement
last week declaring that the companies had settled all
outstanding litigation. Microsoft had said it would pay
$700 million to resolve pending anti-trust issues and
$900 million for patent issues.
