Michael Van Buskirk is Chief Technology Officer
Sunnyvale, Calif.,USA: Spansion, the world's largest
producer of NOR Flash memory products, has announced that
Michael Van Buskirk has been appointed Chief Technology
Officer. Van Buskirk is a 26-year semiconductor industry
veteran who has spearheaded a number of Flash memory innovations,
including development of the groundbreaking MirrorBit(TM)
technology used exclusively in Spansion(TM) Flash memory
products. In addition to his new role, Van Buskirk retains
his position as group vice president, worldwide engineering
and corporate officer of Spansion.
His notable achievements include his role as lead inventor
of AMD's negative gate erase technology, simultaneous
read-write architecture and MirrorBit technology -- all
crucial to advancing the state-of-the-art in the Flash
memory industry. MirrorBit technology allows each cell
in a Flash chip to store twice as much data as a cell
in conventional floating gate technology and is already
the baseline technology for strategic Spansion memory
products. Van Buskirk has authored a number of technical
publications and has been instrumental in securing more
than 50 U.S. patents in the field of non-volatile memory
over his career.
