Indo Rama recommends 15 per cent dividend

Delhi: Indo Rama Textiles Ltd has reported a net profit
of Rs 9.25 crore for the year ended March 31, 2004, compared
with Rs 7.86 crore in the same period last year. Gross
turnover stood at Rs 373.73 crore (Rs 330.04 crore).
A company statement said the board of directors has recommended
a dividend of 15 per cent for 2003-04.

At the Toyota annual suppliers meet, Aisin NTTF (P)
Ltd has won the gold 'supplier of the year' award from
Toyota Kirloskar Motors and Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts
for its overall performance in the year 2003-04, while
Delphi Automotive System (P) Ltd won the Silver 'Supplier
of the year' award.

Higher volumes for Carrier this Q1

Delhi: Carrier India, the subsidiary of Carrier Corporation,
a major manufacturer of heating, air-conditioning and
refrigeration systems and equipments, has announced strong
results for 2003 and for the first quarter of 2004. The
company had grown its volumes by 15 per cent in 2003 and
has stepped up its performance by notching a 26 per cent
rise in the first quarter of 2004. The company has recorded
sales of 48,300 air-conditioners during the first quarter
against 38,400 units in 2003.

Bharti deploys MPLS
New
Delhi: Bharti Infotel Ltd, which provides fixed line,
long distance, data and corporate solutions, has announced
that it has deployed an IP-based Multi Protocol Label
Switching (MPLS) backbone solution, which helps in providing
several revenue generating services such as bandwidth
on demand, managed services and intelligent routing of
voice, data and other traffic.
This Internet Protocol-based MPLS backbone network solution
has been sourced from Cisco. MPLS-powered networks offer
advantages like point-to-multipoint connectivity using
one single link from customer premises to Bharti's network.
Bharti has reportedly invested about Rs 15 crore on MPLS
and is offering these services to enterprises and banks.

Pentamedia told to hold shareholders'
meet
Chennai:
The Madras High Court has directed Pentamedia Graphics
to seek the approval of its shareholders for a scheme
of amalgamation between the company, Media Dreams Ltd,
Kris Srikkanth Sports Entertainment Ltd, Intelvision Ltd
and Mayajaal Entertainment Ltd.
According to a release by Pentamedia, the amalgamation
will help the company focus on the entertainment business
and to become a pure content creator and distributor,
and also to meet growing competition from domestic and
global markets.

Valtech heads for Bangalore
Bangalore:
Valtech, a global IT consulting group based in France,
has announced the launch of its first offshore development
facility in Bangalore. The French company has been operating
in India with local partners to deliver its advanced technology
solutions. The offshore development centre in Bangalore
will have staff strength of 100.
The $100-million company uses a unique software delivery
process based on the agile and unified process (UP) methodologies,
to provide flexible delivery solutions to its customers
through various stages of the product cycle.

Ikanos
to focus on Indian markets
Bangalore:
Ikanos Solutions has announced the opening of its India
development centre at Bangalore. The company will focus
on the Indian market with its range of fibre extension
technologies.
The company said that it was in talks with the major Indian
telecom service providers and equipment manufacturers
about its programmable chipsets that will enable carriers
to deliver 100 mbps to the consumer over the existing
copper cable itself, at a fraction of the cost of fibre-connectivity.
According to the company this will bring down costs by
a 100-1,000 times compared to connecting with fibre. There
are expected to be 251 million broadband subscriptions
across the world by 2005.

BPCL gets Karthikeyan for Speed
Mumbai:
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) has announced
that Formula Asia champion Narain Karthikeyan will be
the brand ambassador for its Speed brand of petrol. In
June 2002 Bharat Petroleum introduced Speed as the first
branded fuel in the country. Meant for motor gasoline
vehicles, Speed contains multi-functional fuel additives
which are claimed to remove and prevent formation of harmful
deposits thereby improving vehicle performance. Speed
has a 65 per cent market share and is currently sold in
45 cities and 1,000 retail outlets.

Nordisk gets Lucky
Bangalore: Singer-actor Lucky Ali will join the
insulin major Novo Nordisk in its awareness drive against
diabetes. Ali said he would interact with the underprivileged
and tell them about the disease and how to prevent or
treat it. About 33 million people are afflicted with the
disease in India.
