Following EC assurances NC not to boycott LS polls
Srinagar: The National Conference has withdrawn
its threat to pull out of the third and fourth phase of
polls, following an assurance from the Election Commission
(EC) that it will look into the party's complaint against
PDP President Mehbooba Mufti.
Mehbooba
had removed the veil of a woman alleging her to be a bogus
voter. Consequently Omar Abdullah, in a letter to the
EC, had threatened to withdraw from the remaining phases
of polls in Jammu and Kashmir if their complaints against
PDP President for alleged violation of election norms
were not looked into.
East Delhi: The son also rises
New Delhi: Sandeep Dikshit, Delhi Chief Minister
Shiela Dikshit's son, has entered the electoral fray from
the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. Sandeep was his
mother's campaign manager in the assembly elections held
in December.
Sandeep
will lock horns with three-time BJP MP from the East Delhi
seat, Lal Behari Tiwari. East Delhi is considered to be
a BJP stronghold, but after the assembly elections the
fortunes of the Congress party are looking up. Sheila
Dikshit, as the Chief Minister, has put in a lot of work
in the area and now, it seems, the son has arrived to
reap the benefits.
