Sensex starts a new week: Down 70
The Sensex went down another 70 points (1.24 per cent)
to close at 5584.99, while the Nifty fell by 29 points
from 1796.10 to close at 1766.70.

Dresdner K Benson registration
suspended for 18 months
Mumbai: Dresdner Kleinwort Benson Securities (India)
Ltd. (DKB) has been found guilty of fictitious dealing,
market manipulation and rigging by the Securities and
Exchanges Board of India (SEBI), and as per its order
DKB's certificate of registration had been suspended for
a period of 18 months. The board has been investigating
DKB with regard to trades effected on behalf of Ketan
Parikh Associates. Subsequently, the company had surrendered
its certificate of registration to SEBI.

Birla
Mutual to widen Portfolio Advisory Service
Kolkata: Through its Portfolio Advisory Service
(PAS), the Birla Mutual Fund has decided to introduce
three separate plans - Value, Growth and Value-plus-Growth-
for which it has sought regulatory approval. Birla MF
has recently launched a special plan for extra large investors
in its liquid scheme, Birla Cash Plus. The 'institutional
premium plan', requires a minimum initial commitment of
Rs 20 crores.
