Murali equals Walsh's 519
Harare: Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has equalled Courtney Walsh's world record of 519 wickets in Test cricket taking 89 matches to achieve the feat, as compared to 132 Tests taken by Walsh. Murali picked up six wickets for Sri Lanka against Zimbabwe on the first day of the first Test to equal the record set by the West Indian fast bowler. Aussie leg spinner Shane Warne, with 517 wickets, is the only other bowler to have more than 500 wickets in Test cricket.

Muralitharan, who is currently on a 12-month probation from the ICC world governing body for reportedly throwing during the home Test-series to Australia in February, finished the day with 6-45 off 24.2 overs.
