ISRO's 'Chandrayan' mission gets global bids
Bangalore: ISRO has received 30 experiment proposals of various space and academic agencies from across the globe for its Moon mission payloads. The Rs 350-crore `Chandrayaan-1' orbiting mission around Moon is slated for 2007-08. It will take up to 525 kg of experimental gadgets mainly by India. According to ISRO, some 15-20 kg of payload can be offered to a couple of foreign space agencies on a non-commercial basis.

An expert committee will sift through the proposals before finalising one or two of them in the next 3-4 months. The riders would be chosen based on the weight and the power requirement of their experiments. The proposals have come in from the European Space Agency, US, German DLR and Israel among others. Their scientific data will be shared with ISRO.
