SIA eyes India
Singapore: Singapore Airlines (SIA) has indicated its intention to expand into India and is keenly awaiting the new government's civil aviation policy, including disinvestments of the airline PSUs.

According to the airline if the governments in Southeast and South Asia, including India, opened up the aviation market, a massive growth can be witnessed in this region. The SIA is planning a direct connection to Ahmedabad from July and Amritsar later.

US defers decision on shrimps tangle
Washington: The US Commerce Department has delayed a decision on imposing penalty tariffs on imports of shrimp from Southeast Asia and South America till July, because of the complicated nature of the case. US shrimp producers contend that they are being driven out of business by unfair foreign competition and have asked the government to impose anti-dumping duties.

The department said that it would make a preliminary determination on shrimp imported from China and Vietnam on July 6 and that it would issue a preliminary determination on shrimp imported from Brazil, Ecuador, India and Thailand on July 29.
