FIIs net sellers last week
Mumbai: According to data available with Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) recorded net sales of Rs 961.4 crore (US dollar 218.9 million) in equities during the trading week ended May 21. The Mutual Funds (MFs), however, registered net purchases of Rs 247.78 crore in the equity market.

FIIs were net sellers to the tune of Rs 63.60 crore ($14.50 mn) in equities for first trading day of week (May 17), the day when BSE sensex dipped by 565 points, the MFs netted their highest inflow of the week at Rs 341.56 crore on May 17.

Sustained purchases by domestic institutions and funds led by Life Insurance Corporation and the Unit Trust of India after Monday's historic collapse enabled the BSE benchmark 30-share Index to end the week at 4961.57 as against last weekend's close of 5069.87.
