Shobha Majumdar takes over at CBDT
New Delhi: Shobha Majumdar has been formally appointed as the Chairperson of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has also given its nod for the appointment of Berjinder Singh, N.K.Jain and Radha Balakrishnan as members of the central board. Prior to their latest appointments, Jain was Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT) in Gujarat, Berjinder Singh was CCIT in Delhi and Radha Balakrishnan was CCIT in Chennai.

Pepsi India's marketing head resigns
New Delhi: Shashi K Kalathil, the head of marketing of PepsiCo India has resigned. Before heading Pepsi's marketing division (in charge of carbonated drinks including the Pepsi brand), Kalathil, was executive vice-president of PepsiCo India's south market business unit operations and was based in Chennai. Before joining Pepsi, he had had worked with HLL and RPG Group's Cellular operations in Chennai. Shashi had recently come into controversy over the advertising campaign Pepsi launched during the recently concluded India-Pak cricket series.

Coca-Cola President Heyer to step down
New York: Coca-Cola Co president and chief operating officer (COO) Steven Heyer, who was superseded for the top job in May, has resigned. The company while not giving an exact timetable for Heyer's departure said that he would leave after a transition period.

Chattopadhyaya is new GM at SBT
Thiruvananthapuram: State Bank of Travancore (SBT) has announced the appointment of K.K. Chattopadhyay as General Manager of the bank's Commercial, Institutional and International Banking wing. Prior to this appointment, Chattopadhyay has served as General Manager, Operations, of the State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur.

Ramanathan Kannan to take over at IFMR
Chennai: Ramanathan Kannan will take over as Director of the Chennai-based Institute for Financial Management & Research (IFMR) from July 1. IFMR is an institution sponsored by ICICI Bank and the House of Kotharis and was established in 1970.
Prior to joining IFMR, Kannan was the General Manager of ICICI Bank during the period 1997-2003, looking after various groups dealing with structured products, oil and gas and infrastructure financing and technology departments. He has more than 30 years of experience in industry and has served as director on the boards of a number of major corporations.
