Tatas bask under TCS sun as market runs for cover
Mumbai: The Sensex closed at 4,832.71 points, 111.93 points lower than its previous day's close. The Nifty closed at 1,508.45 points, a fall of 36.30 points over its previous close.

Shriram Investments to issue shares
Chennai: Shriram Investments Ltd has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange of its board's decision to issue up to 23 lakh shares and 31 lakh shares respectively, to Reliance Capital Ltd and Shriram Chits & Investments Pvt. Ltd. The shares have a face value of Rs 10 each. The issue price will be determined in accordance with the SEBI guidelines.

Franklin Templeton merges schemes
Mumbai: Franklin Templeton Asset Management is merging schemes with similar investment plans. The company has also introduced a long-term option to its Government securities fund.
The Templeton India Government Securities Fund (TGSF)-Long-Term Plan would be available in quarterly dividend, growth and bonus options, according to the addendum to the offer document. The FT India Gilt fund (FTIGF) is also being merged into the long-term plan. This would be effective from July 9, 2004.

Also, the Franklin Templeton India Gilt Fund is being merged with the Templeton Government Securities Fund-Treasury Plan and accordingly the growth and dividend plans of the TGSF fund are being renamed as TGSF-Composite Plan. In the balanced fund category, FT India Balanced Fund (FTIBF) and Franklin Indian Balanced Fund (FIBF) are being merged. The date of merger for all schemes is July 9, 2004.
