Anti-Enron activist Pradyumna Kaul passes away
Mumbai: Well known anti-Enron activist and power sector expert Pradyumna Kaul died on June 14. Kaul was one of the earliest and most consistent critics of Enron's Dabhol power project.

The 52-year-old activist died of a heart attack while in Delhi. He is survived by his elder brother, sister-in-law and nephew. Kaul was convenor of the Enron Virodhi Andolan and intervened frequently on behalf of consumers at various tariff hearings at the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission against power companies including MSEB, Tata Power and Reliance Energy.

Award for Dena Bank chief
New Delhi: Dr Anil K. Khandelwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Dena Bank, has been awarded at the 2004-World Women Summit for the bank's contribution in women empowerment and livelihood through innovative schemes. The bank has designed an implemented a special scheme `Dena Shakti' for self-reliance and economic upliftment of women. The bank is also offering rural credit through self-help groups under the Dena Swarozgar Credit Card Scheme.

Promotions at O&M
Mumbai: O&M has announced that Nishi Suri has been promoted to Group Head for all the Mumbai-based businesses. Previously she was head of O&M Advertising in the city. Suri was recently announced as one of the top 10 women in Indian advertising in a recently published survey. In Delhi, Sanjay Thapar will take over from the long-term office head, Vibha Desai. Desai is moving on to pursue her personal interests.

Electrolux CEO to visit India
New Delhi: Electrolux Group's President and CEO, Hans Straberg, will be on a two-day visit to India on June 22. This will be his first visit to India after he took over as CEO in 2002. Straberg will inaugurate the company's research and development centre in India.
