IA hikes fares 10 per cent
New Delhi: Indian Airlines today announced a 10 per cent hike in air travel on all domestic sectors with effect from June 21 citing the continuous increase in prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF). The increased fares will not be applicable to confirmed tickets booked before June 21.

However, any open ticket or a new booking after June 21 will be charged as per the new tariff. The hike in passenger fares will be across the board which includes apex fare and promotional schemes. Jet Airways, Air Sahara and Air Deccan have already announced hike in their fares by 10 per cent.

TRAI: Mobile companies must inform about roaming charges
New Delhi: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has asked all cellular operators to inform pre-paid subscribers the charges applicable while roaming. The regulator asked the operators to inform users about the tariffs for SMS each time they roamed between telecom circles and that roaming charges should be charged only if the users choose to make or receive calls. The move comes after the regulator received complaints from pre-paid subscribers that operators were charging users for roaming without any intimation. TRAI has asked operators to implement the directives with immediate effect.

Ramco Systems Q4 net up
Chennai: RAMCO Systems Ltd, the Chennai-based software company, has posted a net profit of Rs 4.20 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2004, as compared to a net loss of Rs 3.34 crore for the corresponding quarter of last year. Total income increased to Rs 34.40 crore (Rs 23.50 crore).

Reliance cuts tariff for pre-paid subscribers
Chennai: Reliance Infocomm Ltd has cut call charges for its pre-paid subscribers in Tamil Nadu by 17-60 per cent, depending on whether the call is within the Reliance network or to other networks. The new tariffs are effective today and will be applicable for existing and new subscribers. Reliance Infocomm has 7.5 lakh subscribers in Tamil Nadu, of which, about one lakh are pre-paid.
Under the new tariff plan, local calls to any other Reliance phone (mobile or fixed wireless) will cost 99 paise a minute, down from Rs 2.49 a minute and national calls within the Reliance network will cost Rs 1.79 a minute against Rs 2.99 earlier.

Hamam's 'Griha Pravesam'
Chennai: HLL's Hamam has offered its customers a chance to win houses and consumer durables as prizes under a scheme, which runs until July 31 this year. Customers who collect the words `Griha' and `Pravesam' from any two Hamam wrappers will be eligible to take a shot at the prizes. According to a press release, every fortnight, one person will win a house worth Rs 5 lakh. And everyday, five people will win Rs 5,001 worth of consumer durables. The offer is valid on 150g, 100g and 50g bars, the release adds.

Bose Corporation to expand retail operations
Chennai: Bose Corporation India Pvt Ltd, may make its retail debut in Hyderabad while expanding in Mumbai, where it already has one retail outlet. The expansion will be funded by its profits.
Bose operates the retail and the professional systems divisions in India, with the latter providing customised audio solutions in terms of design, supply, installation and commission, training and maintenance for professional spaces.

The company's professional systems division has offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai. It also has two retail outlets in Bangalore and one each in Mumbai, Gurgaon, New Delhi and Chennai. The company's biggest market in terms of volumes is North America while the fastest growing one is the Asia-Pacific.
