They have also skipped operations in the debt market completely, according to SEBI data. The FIIs were net buyers in equities for three trading days and recorded the highest net inflow of the week at Rs 127.3 crore ($28.1 million) on June 15. They also netted sales of Rs 126 crore ($27.8 million) on the first day of the trading week. Back to News Review index page MFs provide 114 per cent returns on equity Mumbai: According to a study by the Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI), the mutual funds have given 114 per cent returns on investments in equity during fiscal 2004, much higher than stock market indices, which jumped by 79 per cent during the same period. The study, which was commissioned by AMFI and done by credit rating agency Crisil, also found that over a three year period from 2002, the equity funds have provided a handsome return of 32 per cent, compared to 15 per cent rise in stock market indices during the same period. In the five-year period ended March 2004 too, while the equity indices grew only by 8-10 per cent, the diversified equity funds gave a return of 18 per cent per annum. Other instruments such as debt funds, which invest in various debentures, gave a return of 10 per cent per annum, compared to bank deposit rates of 5.5 per cent. Back to News Review index page
