Dr Kotaiah quits GTB board

Hyderabad: Dr Pamidi Kotaiah has stepped down from the board of the Hyderabad-based Global Trust Bank Ltd. The GTB board has accepted his resignation with effect from June 7. In a communiqué to stock exchanges, GTB said Dr Kotaiah had submitted his resignation in view of his increased commitment to international assignments.

Rajinder Kumar takes over as Ranbaxy's R&D head
New Delhi: Following the exit of Dr Rashmi Bharbhaiya, President, Research and Development (R&D), from Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd, the company has appointed Dr Rajinder Kumar as the new head. Dr Kumar, who was previously with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), will report directly to Dr Brian W. Tempest, CEO and Managing Director of Ranbaxy. His appointment comes into effect from July 5.

The new research head is a British national, who has been Global Head of Psychiatry - Clinical Research & Development at GSK, UK. He is a graduate from University of London, University of Birmingham and University of Dundee, UK, from where he holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) and a postgraduate qualification in Psychological Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians, Ireland. Dr Kumar has led a team of physicians and scientists who achieved a number of regulatory submissions and approvals in the US, the EU and Japan. This ultimately led to Paxil/Seroxat-paroxetine becoming the No. 1 product of the company and the first $2 billion product for the GSK.

Central Bank transfers
Hyderabad: The Central Bank of India has announced that its Deputy General Manager at Hyderabad zone, M.P. Raju, has been transferred to Mumbai office as in-charge DGM. In his place, K.A. Somayajulu from the Central Office, Mumbai, has taken charge at Hyderabad, the bank said in a press release.
