FIIs are net buyers in equities
Mumbai: Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) registered net purchases of Rs 280 crore ($ 61.7 million) in equities while remaining net sellers in debt at Rs 28.1 crore ($6.3 million) for the week ended July 9. In the debt market, MFs were net buyers to the tune of Rs 32.44 crore, Rs 71.27 crore and Rs 62.33 crore on July 5, 6 and 7 respectively.

SEBI chief to meet Chidambaram today
New Delhi: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairman, G.N. Bajpai, will meet the Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, here on Monday. The market, had by and large, expressed apprehensions over the proposed levy, including a day of 'strike' from bonds trading last week. After the Budget proposals for 2004-05 were announced, the broking community had met the SEBI Chairman to express their concern over the transaction tax.
