Gujarat Narmada Fertilisers net sales down

The Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company Ltd has
posted net sales of Rs.265.59 crore for the quarter ended
June 2004, registering a fall of around 12 per cent compared
to Rs.300.69 crore during the corresponding quarter last
fiscal. This drop is mainly due to lower product availability
on account of a long 26-day plant shutdown, according
to a company release. The company's profit before tax
stood at Rs 36.85 crore, down 17 per cent compared to
Rs 44.46 crore. Profit after tax stood at Rs 22.87 crore
(Rs 26.46 crore).

Aftek
Infosys Q4 net up
Mumbai: Aftek Infosys has registered a 19.34 per
cent growth in net profit at Rs.13.4 crore for the fourth
quarter ended June 30, 2004, compared to Rs.11.23 crore
in the corresponding quarter last year. The Mumbai based
IT solutions firm recorded revenues of Rs.36.7 crore,
a 41.6 per cent growth, against Rs.25.9 crore in the corresponding
quarter the previous year. Aftek showed a 30.42 per cent
jump in net profit to Rs.52.43 crore for its financial
year ended June 30, 2004 compared to Rs.40.20 crore posted
last year. Its net revenues for the year went up 44.32
per cent to Rs 138.96 crore (Rs 96.28 crore) with other
income for the year at Rs 1.71 crore. Total income for
fiscal 2003-04 (July-June) at Rs 140.6 crore showed a
growth of 41.5 per cent, up from Rs 99.35 crore.
Having acquired Seekport (indirectly) through Arexera
Information Technologies, in which Aftek holds a 49 per
cent stake with a firm understanding to acquire the remaining
51 per cent, the Indian firm is now looking at enhancing
its presence in the search engine business. The German
entity Arexera Information Technologies GmbH along with
its employees acquired 56 per cent stake in Seekport Internet
Technologies. Seekport is the new avatar of erstwhile
European search major Infoseek. It has tied up with paid
placement service Espotting to process the latter's search
request. Espotting drives traffic to over 22,700 advertisers
across Europe and generates 1.4 billion monthly search
queries. During the year, Aftek also forayed into the
African market by implementing ticketing solution for
Mauritius transport companies and spot billing solutions
for water and electricity authorities of Seychelles.

VisualSoft
to pay dividend
Hyderabad: VisualSoft Technologies Ltd has posted
an income of Rs.46.21 crore and a net profit of Rs.7.9
crore during the quarter ended June 30, 2004. The income
has increased by 30.26 per cent but the net profit declined
by 12.37 per cent when compared with an income of Rs.35.47
crore and a profit of Rs.9.02 crore registered during
the first quarter of the previous year. VisualSoft's income
through software sales and services accounted for Rs.43.45
crore during the quarter under consideration while it
earned only Rs 51.35 lakh from BPO operations. The software
segment posted a gross profit of Rs.12.21 crore but the
BPO division incurred a net loss of Rs.1.29 crore. The
board of the company has also considered the audited financial
results for 2003-04 and recommended a dividend of Rs 2.50
per share.

Xansa's
Chennai center to be its biggest in the world
Chennai: Xansa, an international business process
and IT services firm, will double its manpower in India
to 4,000 by the end of April 2005. The company also plans
to make its Chennai centre the biggest one for Xansa anywhere
in the world. The Chennai centre currently employs about
500 software professionals, and the strength is to be
doubled in the next eight months. In three years, the
Chennai centre will have about 6,000 employees. Employee
strength in the company's Pune centre will be doubled
to 400. The company will also have about 2,600 employees
in its Noida centre, from the present 1,400, by fiscal
ending April 2005.
Xansa's Chennai centre is now the worldwide support centre
for the $400-million Lawson, a US-based provider of enterprise
resource planning solutions. Xansa's centre has the largest
concentration of Lawson skills outside the US.
